This 1920s bungalow was overdue for a makeover.
The house had an awkward layout. At some point in its life a bedroom was added onto the back of an existing bedroom rendering the original room into a kind of awkward walk through storage area.
Our clients purchased the house with intent to put the layout right. The new plans included an open plan kitchen/dining and lounge area, two modern tiled bathrooms and a walk in wardrobe. They gained some internal floor area by converting a narrow outdoor deck space into what is now part of the main bathroom. The front door was relocated with the porch area being converted into part of the ensuite. As is common in these old houses a nice native hardwood floor was hiding underneath the carpet, the decision was made to sand it back to expose the natural brown and black tones of the heart matai. Two new decks were added to the house to create nice outdoor spaces front and rear.
We are really happy to have given this old house the transformation it deserves. What do you think?
